Bianconi Restaurant

Charles Bianconi moved to Ireland from Italy in 1802. In 1815 he established regular horse-drawn carriage services on many routes throughout Ireland. He set up a stage coach service in 1831 from the Commins’s Family & Commercial Hotel (now the Granville Hotel) which he purchased from the Meagher Family. By 1832 he had established himself as the founder of public transportation in Ireland and was known as “The King of the Irish Roads”.

Thomas Francis Meagher Bar

Our bar is named after Thomas Francis Meagher who was born in the Granville Hotel in 1823. He went on to become Secretary to the territory and Governor of Montana. He was a Pall Bearer at Abraham Lincolns funeral and was originator and designer of our National Irish Tricolour, which was first flown in Waterford in 1848.

We serve Carvery from 12:30pm-2:30pm daily followed by Bar Food from 3:00pm-9:00pm. Breakfast is served Monday-Saturday from 10:00am-11:30pm. See a sample of the Carvery menu Sample Carvery Menu

There is live music every Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Bank Holiday Sunday.

Breakfast

Start your day the Granville way with a our Bar Breakfast Menu. We offer the all important Traditional Irish Breakfast and American Style Pancakes which is a guest favourite! If you don’t feel like a full breakfast then stop by for a tea or coffe and perhaps one of our homemade scones with our award-winning strawberry or raspberry jam, cakes or pastries will catch your eye. Our pastries are made fresh in house every morning.

An intimate and cosy space awaits you with a warm welcome from the staff and a fine array of food. Stephen Hooper our Head Chef along with Ann Power our Bar Manager have worked together combining their years of experience in the Granville hotel to develop menus that prioritise our customers varied tastes.
